Quilting Mumma Begins

I am so thrilled to say that I am now being featured as a regular contributor in DUQ, with my very own coloum "Quilting Mumma" Each issue I will bring you little snippets of life, quilting, fabric love... all while being a stay at home mumma bear to my kidlets... Its so exciting and I love working with Deb!
I am still so humbled by all the wonderful things that I get to do as a result of my love of stitching.. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by people who encourage me to soar!..

We are almost at the end of the school holidays.. and although the kiddo's are ready for going back to school.. I have to say that I really enjoy them being home.. the impromptu pj days, picnics on the lounge room floor, movie nights in bed with popcorn..

I have managed to stitch a little the last few days.. I have a bubba who is teething and really unhappy so that means lots of snuggles together which are so special!

This is part of a magazine project Im working on... an entire table setting in thes gorgeous aqua blues, fuschia pinks, lime green and crisp white... BLISS... Today Im hoping to get some more of the setting underway.. Hope your enjoying some stitching too wherever you may be !

Sunday Stitching...

Sundays... oh how I love them... the mornings are spent praising and worshipping at our awesome Church, then its always a cruisy family day in the afternoon..

Today it was just me and the boys, and I took the opportunity to stitch a little while bubba napped and the big boys played their new game...It was so lovely.. there was a beautiful breeze blowing through the window just near my sewing machine.. so it was really plesant to just sit and stitch away..

This is what I whipped up...my good friend Jane and her family just moved into a new house and I wanted to make them something to adorn their family table. She LOVES kokeshi dolls and when I saw these little ladies online I snapped up a whole yard!

I added a chocolate brown border and used the remaining kokeshi doll fabric for the back, it actually worked out that the finished runner fitted on the backing piece., EXACTLY! Oh how I love it when things just 'work'...
I did some straight line quilting, whipped the binding on and stitched it up.. all in time for Jane to come round for a visit... she was so surprised.. and she LOVED the runner... (I knew she would love the little dolly fabric)

The Name Game has begun

Well we have finally been given our swap partner's details for the name game swap hosted by Samelias Mum! Im super excited...

I am not allowed to share who exactley my partner is..BUT i can tell you that she doesnt live in Australia. So Im super excited to get started on this project for her. So i decided to go with a "Pretty" colour pallete... and I was having a little look through my stash and online and decided on the beautiful "Bella Butterfly by Michael Miller Fabrics"

I emailed my order through to Marni and my friend Cass and I took the Ally Bus down to pick this bundle of pretty up today ...

Oh yes... its so pretty!!!

Well I looking forward to after the kidlets hop off to bed tonight.. Im planning on stitching up the last bit of a magazine project and then im going to cut into this pretty bundle!

I am thankful for SO much...

I am so excited and stitching away on this special little quilt.. this is going to a very special little bundle of blue that is due to be born this year.. there is something that I love about making baby quilts.. its like all my love and snuggles are stitched in between the layers...

Im SO thankful for these beautiful little men, we prayed for such a long time for each of our special miracles.. and in Gods perfect timing He gave them to us.. and more than a million times a day I give thanks for them.

Im also thankful for chocolate and GOOD actually GREAT friends... Max Brenner has opened up at the shops near us.. and my friend and I have been there twice to savour some of the delicious treats on offer..

Chocolate of course gives me a much needed boost in the afternoons when the sleep deprivation starts to kick in.. *smile*.. our littlest bundle is not quite skilled in the art of sleeping through the night... hee hee... but thats ok.. because he is a little cutie patootie!

well im thankful for all these things and SO MUCH MORE... what are you thankful for? Just take a minute today to think of something your grateful for!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope that you have spent some wonderful moments with your families over this holiday period... I have!!! I have enjoyed lots of yummy food and drinks which has been wonderful! As well as LOTS of great family moments... but its time to get back into stitching...

Here is what I have been working on....

arent the colours divine?! yep I think so... This is the new "Lark" Range By Amy Butler... and the richness of the watermelon colour is just so fresh...

Here is what it ended up looking like... Its such a pretty colour pallette to work with..!!! This is a commissioned project but I will be sure to let you know when the mag is due..

I am so ready to get stuck into 2012... lots of new and exciting things are coming up!!

Last week was our Church Mission and i was SUPER excited to be part of the team for the first time.. we had a BLAST... lots of kids and adults came along to be immersed in Gods Grace and I was so privaledged to serve the community in this way!... Very tired little kidlets around here at the moment.. but still SO refreshed!

Well its off to the cutting board I go... onto the next project.. Im going to stitch a beautiful little quilt for a bundle of blue thats due to be born later on this year for a friend of mine,, *smile*

its beginning to look alot like Christmas.....

Well it sure is starting to finally feel like christmas around here... tree is up, lights are flickering and the shops are CHAOS!!! LOL.,
All my wrapping is done, tags on gifts, ribbons tied... in the craziness that is Christmas its really easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of it all.. though for me.. I am so thankful for the birth of that special little boy, one who would grow up to become the Saviour of Man..
This year we are preparing to celebrate our first christmas as a family of FIVE! After so much prayer and waiting our family is finally completed with three cheeky monkeys sent straight to us from the hands of our Mighty God....
So id like to take this chance to wish you all a very merry christmas and a Blessed 2012!

Name Game Swap

Well Im super excited... i have been following this awesome blog for ages now, I have actually bought a couple of pre cuts from Samelia's mum

I was so thrilled when the sign ups opened for this awesome swap.

I cannot wait until after the sign ups close, to find out who my partner is.. this is going to be such fun.. There is still plenty of time to sign up- entries close Jan 15th 2012

Here are some of the swap basics:

It will be an international swap and is based on the idea of making a mini quilt for your swap partner, using their name / blog name in the quilt.

The size is up to you, but it should be bigger than a mug rug. I think work on a minimum of 9” x 12”

It will be a blind swap which means that you won’t know how will make your mini quilt, until it’s delivered by your lovely postal service.

Be sure to sign up too!.. and dont forget to add this gorgeous thumbnail to your side bar on your blog!

Introducing Ruby....

Lookie here... Christmas has come early for me!!!!

Isnt she pretty??? Yep I think so.. and OH MY she sews like a dream!!!! I am super lucky that I was able to trade my trusty industrial machine back and got to upgrade to this beauty!! I of course like to name all my machines.. as I spend such a lot of time with them its important! So I named her "Ruby" of course becuase she has a lovely red strip on her!

I have been stitching up a storm and here is my gorgeous Rasberry Roses finished and bound, its all packaged up and ready to head to the magazine for photography!

I am totally in love with the fabric range.. "Its Ruby" By Bonnie and Camille... LOL.. Im surrounded by ruby goodness lately! ;)

I actually managed to get my hands on another Jelly Roll (thanks beautiful Jode) so Im eager to start cut cut cutting up some more of this delish fabric!

How are the chrissie plans coming along for you? All our pressies are bought and wrapped.. just need to add a couple more things to my hubby's pile.. but who has time to shop when there is a gorgeous machine like this to sew on LOL..

Colour Splash Quilt

Well today was another great day in the sunshine and stitching studio., bubba slept for one hour 45 mins today which meant that i was able to stitch stitch stitch

Isnt it lovely?! I am so in love with this range, I am eagerly awaiting its release next month! I did add some prints from my stash into this mix and Im loving it!

There is something so great about working with LOTS of colours.. being bold and brave with colour choice.. mixing things up a bit and not stitching with the same old colour themes you are drawn too...

The other exciting thing when I logged on to my computer this morning and read my comments was that Jennifer from That Girl That Quilt left me some love! SUPER SQUEAL!!! I LOVE her blog and have been a reader for yonks!

Stitched in Colour........

Oh my goodness... are we really in December already? Gosh this year has flown by..
Our tree is up, baubles hung, lights flittering and we are eagerly awaiting the big man in red's arrival in just a few short weeks time.
I have been enjoying more time to loose myself in some stitching of late, which is such a welcome activity in my eyes *smile*
This is what I have been stitching today

isnt is SO GORGEOUS!!! I absolutely love how all these colours marry together so perfectly! Its "Stitched in Colour" By Malka Dubrawsky. I managed to nab a charm pack of this fantastic range, the yardage will be available Jan 2012 so not too much longer till I can loose myself is larger pieces of this totally delicious range.

There is something about how working with lots of bold colours and prints just makes my heart sing!

Im off to continue working on this little beauty... I hope that this post finds you all well and stitching up a storm!

The Sunshine is out again...

Its been a long time since I have been stitching regularly.. Since the arrival of our third bubba almost 6 months ago.. my days have been filled with bleary eyed running the house and day to day duties of 2 bigger cherubs.. all while having little very little sleep indeed...

But we seem to be turning a corner and the familiar sound of the sewing machine has been buzzing along around our house.. its a welcome thing really..

I have made two quilts that are away at the lovely Jan from Red Shed Quilting being tacked as we speak,.. i hate basting my quilts so this is a perfect solution for me.. they come back all basted and ready for free motion quilting... PERFECT!

This little taggy blankie is for a friend of my hubby's who are expecting their FIRST bubba in April... oh so excited for them... :0)

and here is what im working on at the moment.. some fun stuff... a turtle.. got a couple of birthdays coming up and this little guy will be heading to aew home...

Well it never stops making my heart so happy to see my work in print... I love that from my love of stitching.. I am able to share my designs with so many. Its funny you know... if someone had of said that I would be a quilt designer 5 years ago I would have scoffed at the thought! I was more than happy to be a scrap booker at that time.. and I didnt even own a sewing machine... Thanks though to my lovely friend Kerrie who encouraged me to come along to a local sit and sew, borrow her mums machine to work with... and well... after that first lesson.. well the rest is history!

I am thrilled to have made the cover on TWO magazines this month!

This is the current Patchwork and Stitching.. I just LOVE working with Steff. She has just taken over the Editor's seat since the lovely Renee has just welcomed her first little man into the world.. Congrats Renee on the safe arrival of Theodore!

This is the current issue of Handmade.. and the wonderful editor Victoria is a delight to work with too!

I am so blessed to be surrounded by such a wonderful group of people who encourage me!

I hope that this finds you all well.. I am in full on stitching mode with two magazine projects at the moment, and also busily getting ready for the Christmas season.. gosh even just saying Christmas is so wierd!! And this year is going to be a HUGE one.. last year I was sick and throwing up due to being pregnant.. but this year our gorgeous family is complete and we are ready to celebrate BIG !!!!

Etzcetera Magazine Project...

Its always so exciting to find new magazines that feature things of a crafty kind.. and I was thrilled to find that the lovely Kim Archer had handpicked a phenomenal team to put together a new bi monthly publication called "Etzcetera"

I was even more excited when I approached Kim to design a project and she accepted with delight!

The christmas issue has just been released today.. for the bargain price of $4.50... grab yours here and I am featured in it on page 93.. I designed a really cute little fabric roll that you can pop some gardening seeds in and head out into the sunshine to plant them...

So of course, what does a little gardener need to accompany a fabric roll when gardening??? An apron of course... So I whipped this one up ....

How perfect is my little model?? She was SO thrilled to get to model this gorgeous little apron for me.. Now I think that this little apron needs a new home..

We LOVE to plant strawberries in our house.. and I have a certain little helper who loves to pick them straight from the garden * smile*

Well... its time to share a little weakness that I have.. You see its no secret at all that I LOVE fabric, love to look at it, buy it, cut it up and stitch it back together..LOL.. but there is something else that I have a little weakness for... so without further ado.... "tea cups".. yep there I said it... phew.. bet you didnt expect that ! LOL..
I am such a girly girl really.. I love nothing more than to sit at my table with a cuppa in a pretty cup/mug. It just makes the tea SO much better.. Although I may boil the kettle around 600 times in a day I probably only sit down to 3 or 4 actual cups of tea.. and of those well I dont get to sit for ages right now so I decided this morning on a shopping trip for some groceries.. that I *needed* to get some slightly smaller cups so that I actually feel like Im able to drink the whole thing... (giggle)..

Here are the two lovely additions that HAD to come home with me...

Oh there is something about polka dots that I just cant explain.. but I love them! and I thought this little tea cup and saucer would be so perfect to have my morning cuppa in... what do you think?

And this perfectly pretty little cup/saucer set too!
*sigh* I just LOVE this one... this is my new favourite I think! Well I think its about time to boil the kettle and enjoy a cuppa in one of these new lovely tea cups of mine! :)

Lots of stuff going on...

Well as promised.. here is a pic of my block 2.. still no hand embroidery done.. LOL.. will get there in the end..

its really pretty fabric, and I am thoroughly enjoying putting it together... I am so lucky that Im always working on projects for magazine publication.. but i also allow myself time for whatever stitching., and this is one of the many projects that are on that list... do you find that you have SO many projects on the go?

I do.. I also whipped up this runner here.. using a gorgeous little bundle of fabic I picked up at a new store on the weekend..

super sweet hey? I also need to blanket stitch around the flowers.. and then of course comes the quilting.. i have stumbled across a couple of new US blogs this week that are all about free motion quiltng which is my favourite.. so im going to try some new designs on this runner.. I will share another pic once its all done!

this past week has been crazy around our house.. i have had all three little one sick plus hubby and i ... my poor littlest one is still quite unwell.. so there has been not much sleeping going on.. and LOTS of feeding... but in all the craziness.,. I am SO thankful.. and this is what came in my mail box today

Isnt it just SO perfect...MY own little nest.. filled with a mumma's heart and my three little blue peas.. they make my world complete!!

Block 2

Well it's been all systems go in my studio of late.. And it's been awesome really! I have managed to stitch my block 2 of the BOM I'm working on.. Phew.. Block 3 has arrived in my letterbox but I wasn't going to open the pack until this one was done.. I just need to do the stitchery part and it's completed !! Yahoo !!

Today I have also stitched up a new design for P and S Magazine.. Yahoo.. Will share some pics once the quilting is done

Lime Tart

It's been a big few days here in the studio. Bubba has been sleeping much better so I have been stitching up a storm.
This is my first of two workshop quilts ... "Lime Tart" I will be running a "quilt in a day" workshop..
I love the bright colours and easy piecing that team up to make this a delight !

I fell in love with the "delighted" range by Riley Blake designs so jumped at the chance to design something using the range

To Do List

So do you guys make lists? I find that i do write lists .. Not as much as I should though.. So in attempt to get a little more organized I headed off to the store that makes getting organized super easy ... "Smiggle" of course..

I love this store... Its filled with eye candy at every turn really ... So I grabbed a few bits and pieces and
I hope that I will be a little more organized ... Or at least I will be surrounded by pretty things :)

Fabric Love

Well today I was inspired to think outside the square with my latest project.. You see I usually stick to fabrics from the same range... But I really wanted to challenge myself a bit..

So I went through my stash.. And i also picked out some new bits and pieces from the store and came up with this stack of gorgeous !!!!

How pretty is it ? I'm going to cut into it tomorrow .. This is going to be a runner for a magazine...

So I challenge you to think outside the colour pallette you would normally work with ...

Well yep I'm really enjoying working on my BOM!!
Silly me I forgot to post a pic..

And mum came up on the weekend so I managed to stitch quite alot of block two which is awesome ...

Im so enjoying sharing this journey with my friend Cass.. She is such a great friend to me and Im thankful she pushed me back into my love of sewing.. Sometimes with sever sleep deprivation comes lack of macking decisions..LOL

Im looking forward to drawing my stitcheries on today at some point and stitching them up!

Block 1 Complete

Well I have finally finished my block one of Happiness will surround you.. Of course I did make a few small changes,, but hey it wouldnt be my quilt if i followed the pattern to the letter LOL..

Im super grateful and excited to be sharing this quilt journey with my gorgeous friend Cass.. she was the one who found the quilt BOM and suggested that she would like to do it- after some thought ( like 6 seconds) I decided I would do it too! And I have really enjoyed the process of doing block 1.

Block 2 arrived this week, and I am excited to get started on it, well Im going to do the embroidery sections over the next couple of days.. then its on to cutting and stitching up a mag project.. This is a little exciting as I am thrilled to be working with Kim from Etczetera magazine and will have a gorgeous little project in this coming issue which is due for release in November. Its SO awesome that I can be so busy doing things that I LOVE to do SO much..

Well the sunshine is out today.. I have 2 loads of clothes dancing away on the line.. and im hoping to stitch a little this afternoon.. so till next time..

Stitching up a storm

yep its official.. I am back in business so to speak.. LOL... Dont get me wrong.. Im not sleeping much and all but I am learning to function on less sleep..
Im so lucky that I have been able to have some time to rest and recover and get used to have our baby E around the place..
Now its time to get back into stitching some more.. I have editors begging for new things *giggle* So here is a gorgeous runner for P and S.. The new editor Steph is just a lovely person to deal with!

I love this range.. its violet peacock by michael miller,, and the stripe is a lecien basic.. Super loving the ruffles.. gives a very nice touch to my runner..

Cherry Delight

Well its been all systems go here in the studio this past week.. though me and our 2 littlest boys have been sick with a cold again!!!
So that has somewhat slowed things down too :(

Had a lovely new logo done.. freshened up the look of my blog.. and I have been stitching up a storm this week.. I have a mag deadline looming and need to get it finished! Will share a sneaky peek soon..

How Lucky Am I????

If you didnt already know.. I have THE nicest boss in the entire world.. and whats even more lovely is that I am lucky enough to be able to call her a "friend" too..

Look at what Miss Jody the clever girl made for me..

I had picked all these gorgeous fabrics out shortly after Jody got them in.. with the intention to stitch a bag to take to the hospital when I had bubba.. and of course I got sidetracked with 600 other projects and our little man came 3 1/2 weeks early so there was no bag made .....

And since his arrival, my stitching time has been really limited.. so Jody offered to stitch the bag for me.
I got to pick it up today when I went in to visit.. and I am SO THRILLED!!! its super pretty!! And the handles are long enough to go over the pram handles which is another great feature.
I have been stitching away behind the scenes here and there.. I have managed to stitch 2 quilts in the last say month or so which isnt bad considering I have a bubba who just catnaps through the day *smile* Both of which have been accepted for publication in DUQ which Im thrilled to bits about!!
So Im hoping that as bubba is nearly 3 months old that the routine might start to improve a bit.. but hey stitching can wait really.. we have the most beautiful blessing nestled here in my arms..

Hi guys..
Yep I am still here.. have been stitching a little bit.. not too much really.. Im so enjoying our sweet baby that the days seem to roll into weeks and I think.. WOW i havent stitched a thing *giggle*

it doesnt worry me too much as we have waited such a long time for our littlest blessing that I just want to savour all his bubba goodness..

He is 8 weeks already tomorrow.. gosh how the time just flies right on by!

So Im sure you will all forgive me for just getting lost in his perfectness! LOL.. I will be back soon with some stitching things to share..

Sweet Baby Mine

Surprisingly I have managed to stitch a bit.. I am finding that we are very slowly getting a little more into a pattern of some sort and there are a couple of moments through the day where bubba sleeps for longer than 40 mins so Im able to get some stitching done.. not a lot.. but Im grateful for the little stitching moments..

Fiesta @ the Quilt Show

So sorry for my lack of posting.. though you will understand Im sure that life with a newborn is crazy and chaotic at times.. though I am blissfully in love with our littlest man.. He is nearly 5 weeks already! Oh and he makes his mumma's heart melt all the time...

I didnt end up going to the Sydney Craft and Quilt Fair this year.. I instead spent the time home on the couch feeding our little bundle.. *smile*.. But I did end up with a HUGE surprise when I learned that my "Firesta" quilt was on display ALL week at the DUQ stand.. *squeal*..

Thank you so much to lovely Leanne for taking some pics for me.. and the quilting looks a treat too.. Clever girl! :)

So what have you been stitching of late? I am working on three quilts at the moment.. 2 for P and S and the other for the lovely Deb from DUQ.. life is pretty crazy but I love it! Im hoping that as Eli settles into more of a routine I will have more time for stitching *smile*.. but until then I will be plonked on the couch feeding our littlest man and drinking in all his beautiful baby goodness..

Christmas Delight

Thank you so much for all your lovely wishes on the arrival of our precious Elijah.. he is an absolute delight and blessing to our family!

Life with a newborn sure is a delight.. and can be crazy busy too! I have managed to get back to the machine this week though and put this together..

Sorry for the yucko picture.. its horrible lighting right now with this rain that doesnt seem to ever want to go away :)
This is a sneaky peek of my latest design "Christmas Delight" using the very funky Christmas Candy by Doodlebug for Riley Blake Designs.. Love these fun and playful prints.. and I cant wait till this baby is quilted so I can reveal it properly..
Once this is back from the publisher, I am looking forward to using this during the festive season this year..

Its off to my lovely friend Leanne tomorrow for her to quilt it.. with a new bubba around I just dont have the time at the moment.. and with a deadline looming Im so grateful she could squeeze this is for me.. Thanks heaps Leanne :)

Our precious baby Elijah came into the world Monday morning..

This week has been a haze of tired, feeding, and just gazing.. but we are so so blessed!

I will send my patterns out to my winners from the giveaway via email shortly.. off to rest again now..

Well thank you SO Much for all the lovely well wishes with regards to our upcoming special delivery.. Im now 37 weeks pregnant and still no bubba.. :) Im sure that it cant be much longer.. so hoping there will be an announcement on here very soon...

Now the other BIG exciting news is that my quilt for Marmalade Fabrics is completed, pattern written and emailed over to Tammy.
I have worked really hard to get this baby done before I have my baby ..*giggle* and I finished the binding yesterday so its totally finished now.. phew..

Isnt it delish? Its called "Modern Theory" and the pattern has been written for a throw size quilt, but I did my example as a crib size one.. partly because I am really uncomfy and its hard to sit at the machine for ages.. but mostly because i LOVE the design and fabrics and I would use this as a blankie for bubba regardless of gender.. LOL..

Marmalade Adventure Begins...

Well I was squealing with excitement when the parcel man delivered me this gorgeous package of yummy fabrics from Marmalade fabrics

Im so excited to be working with Tammy.. she is such a lovely lady and has given me such a wonderful opportunity in getting to design exclusively for her.. so thanks a bunch lovely friend!

How totally scrumptious is this range? Its called "Theory" and the turquoise, chartreuse and greys work so nicely together!
So I have been madly cutting and stitching the blocks together.. Im 36 weeks pregnant nearly and eagerly waiting to meet our newest little bundle.. But I also want to stitch this as much as I can before hand for Tammy :)

So today I spent some time whipping up this delish bundle of squares. I am doing this "quilt as you go" which is why you will notice I have small quilt sandwiches made with each of the blocks.. And Im going to join the blocks together with 1" bias tape.. Its a really quick and easy way to quilt.. but I have realised that not ALL designs lend themselves to this method..
Its also a great way to quilt with a domestic sewing machine and you are not trying to pull and push a large quilt through a very small throat area..

Here I would like to share my latest design... "Fairy Dust"

Its so pretty isnt it? I have used some gorgeous prints from the "Ballerina Fairies" range and teamed them up with some lovely soft Kona Cottons... its so dainty, pretty and girly...
I then did lots of free motion stippling through the blocks once I ditch quilted them for stability, and finished off the top and bottom of my quilt with an ultra girly ruffle.. because after all how girly are pretty frills and ruffles? Yep I think so too... *smile*

A close up shot of the ruffle was totally a necessity... LOL...

Finally.. the perfect fabric find...

I have spent the last week trawling through hundreds of fabrics trying to find the "perfect" ones to use in a shop sample of Monica Pooles Bow Quilt...

Was feeling slightly discouraged for a while.. but then... alas.. while browsing through gorgeous Kerri from Sew Deerly Loved's Etsy shop.. I spied this bundle...

SCORE... click click click and now its zooming its way to me! YAHOO!!! This range fits in perfectly with how I wanted my quilt to look.. I wanted something really girly, pretty and with aqua, pink and red... not a difficult request really! LOL

A little sneaky peek...

Yep well Im still waiting and growing this little bubba... Im 35 weeks nearly... and as I have had 2 early deliveries Im prepapring for another.. I have however, managed to do some stitching which is a lovely pass time.
I must admit I havent felt really motivated lately but since getting my new machine I have made myelf have a little time each day using and getting to know all the new things that I can do.
Im really lucky to have a beautiful boss who is also my friend.. and she and I have been working on a new BOM program to start at her shop early next year.
I have chosen a gorgeous new fabric line to use in my shop sample.. and my lovely friend Tammy is going to grab me a bundle at this weeks upcoming Quilt Market in Salt Lake City... SQQQQUUEAAALL with excitement.. I wont tell you which line it is until I have it in my hot little hands... but I have designed some of the quilt already and I made up the centre block yesterday.

So here it is... what do you think?

This is of course not the actual colour scheme which I will be using, but I wanted to play with free motion and raw edge applique on my new machine. And Im really impressed with the control and ease that I had with it! This quilt is totally a quilt as you go, and will be pieced, quilted and bound using a domestic sewing machine. I really wanted to show that you dont need a super fancy machine to acheive beautiful quilting results!

So I am going to put a back onto this block and it will be a gorgeous cushion..

What sort of sewer are you??

Do you look forward to your weekly sewing/stitching group with great trepidation? Are you always on the look out for a new class to do or a sewing meeting to attend?
Well I have decided that I dont really do a whole lot of "Social Sewing".. now before you GASP in shock.. that doesnt mean that I dont thoroughly enjoy getting out and chatting with the ladies that come to my classes- but I find that I dont actually get any stitching done when Im in a social setting..LOL..

Im much more of an independent worker bee.. *smile* I can put a whole quilt top together in less than a week and have it quilted, pattern written and done.. because I think there are no distractions when Im in my "creative zone"- I just sew sew sew!!

Having said that I AM actually going to a class tomorrow.... Its a Monica Poole QAYG workshop that has been put on exclusively for our Modern Quilters Guild.. so armed with my requirements list, I dug around in my stash.. and decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to cut into my bundle of FFA II fabrics that I have been hoarding for ages now.. smile..

So here is my little bundle of goodness.. all cut up with backing, and batting sandwiched together.. I am thoroughly impressed with myself for my organisation skills... LOL..
Will be back tomorrow to share some pics of the class... So now its over to you...

Denyse Schmidt Fabric

Well I am so thrilled to finally have purchased a bundle of Denyse's new fabric line Picnic and Fairgrounds which has been released in the states at Joann's.

Isnt it lovely?? You can grab your own bundle from Etsy here. Amanda is really helpful and is releasing a few more fat 1/4 bundles and 1/2 yard bundles early next week so be sure to send her a message to secure yours!

I feel a little like I am THE LAST person in the world to buy a bundle of this luscious new line from Denyse.. :) dont get me wrong I had been dreaming about it for the past couple of weeks since its release in the states, but only just managed to find someone selling fat 1/4 bundles which is what i love..

I would like to make a single girl quilt uisng this yummy fabric line... but fear I will not be able to wait and collect more prints to add to make 31 for the quilt.. so alas I think I will make a gorgeous picnic quilt for our family to use this coming Spring..

has anyone made their own "Single Girl" Quilt by Denyse?

Here in Aus our Spotlight stores will be carrying some of this line.. But Im a bit disappointed to learn that in the states there was 21 prints in her range but we are only going to get 10 prints in our range.. I called my local store today and the lady said about 2 weeks till they get any.. some of the larger stores may get them earlier so call your local store if your wanting to get your hands on some.. She also said that once the bolts are gone they are no able to order any more in.. and they will sell for $16.95 AUS per metre.

Also thanks so much for all your comments on how many sewing machines you have.. Im THRILLED to know that most people have more than one... giggle.. my new little baby is humming away.. I have pieced a whole quilt in the last couple of days and she is is super quiet and does the job perfectly!

Mothers Day is coming up this Sunday.. so if you or your mumma are on the hunt for a new sewing machine.. go see Jody at All About Sewing Charmhaven.. there are LOTS of machines at ridiculous prices right now so grab a bargain!

Alright... How many do you have?

Sewing Machines that is?? I have been asking around our local sewing class and was surprised to know that the majority of our sewers have more than one machine??

I myself have just joined in on this trend.. you see I have an industrial sewing machine which I LOVE to use for all my quilting/free motion needs.. but found that it was WAY too heavy to be lugging around to classes etc and sometimes when Im piecing it is a little hard to get the perfect 1/4 inch.. and I have to say that Im pretty much a perfectionist when it comes to the seams of my quilts.. (smile)

Anyway.. without further ado let me introduce you to her...

isnt she pretty??? Yep I think so :) she is all set up and has been stitching up a storm this afternoon already.. So while I am not quite at the level of some other sewists I know that have 4 or 5 machines.. all for different things mind you so its totally ok! LOL.. I now have 2.. :)

My kidlets are so funny.. "Mummy why do you have 2 sewing machines"
I replied with "Just because I needed it" LOL... and i TOTALLY did need it as well!

So come on now.. share your story.. How many sewing machines do you have?

Sherbet Christmas...

Well dont you just love the new range "Sherbet Pips" by Moda?? Oh yes I do I do I do!!! When I was approached a few weeks ago by a magazine to make a Christmas quilt.. I instantly thought of this range.. you see I dont do "traditional" Christmas colours.. I prefer to use some funky colours that are a little left of centre when you think of "christmas" :)

So I placed my order and waited ever NOT so patiently for the delivery man to bring my stash! And finally after a VERY long weekend without mail.. this is what I got on Wednesday

Yummy I say!!! Then I got to cutting, and stitching and ended up finishing the quilt top the same day! Yep I kid you not.. LOL .. what can I say? When Im in "the zone" it just all happens and I wonder where the day flew too..

Basted and Quilted that evening when the kiddo's went to bed and whalla!!!! Here is my take on a "christmas" quilt.. which I have entitled "Christmas Baubles"

Bit of a disaster photo really.. but the sun peaked out from the cloud and rain this afternoon for 2 seconds.. long enough to grab a helper and snap a couple of pics before I send this away to be photographed..
This will be featured in "Australian Handmade Magazine" later in the year..

I am still SO in love with the fabric range.. So I have a layer cake and some extra yardage that I am wanting to use into a quilt just for me!

Well yep I was squealing with excitement when the mailman came today.. lookie here at what he brought me..

My gorgeous "Peach Parfait" quilt is on the front cover of Australian Patchwork and Stitching #12,1 which will be on newstands really soon..
YAHOO!! I never stop being grateful for all the wonderful opportunities that have come my way since taking up this awesome hobby.. and i still squeal with excitement if I see anything of mine in publication.. it is truly a blessing to be able to share with others what makes my heart sing!

Im pretty sure that you are able to get this magazine in the US too.. from memory the Fat Quarter Shop tends to stock a few Aussie mags.. and Im sure Kimberly would happily get it in if it was required too :)

Decadent Quilt

Well this weekend has been a MAMMOTH stitching effort for me... (and my ever growing belly..smile)

I have finished off 3 magazine projects and they are all packed up, patterns written and ready to go into the mail tomorrow.. phew..

Here is my latest offering "Decadent".. I absolutely love this fabric range.. its Art Gallery and its YUM! I am really into straight line quilting at the moment.. mixing it up with some free motion and raw edge applique and its all my favourite techniques!
This one is off to Australian Patchwork and Quilting.. love working with Elaine and Marni.. :)
What I love about quilting is that there are so many new and fun techniques out there to try all the time.. things are changing, evolving and its such an AWESOME time to be a quilter..
What are some new techniques that you are enjoying at the moment?

Im expecting my package from Marmalade fabrics next week so that is SUPER exciting.. cant wait to get into that box of yummy goodness and also start blogging on my gorgeous project that will be exclusive to Tammy!

Lookie at what I have been doing today

I was blog hopping the other day and I noticed on the lovely Allison from Cluck Cluck Sew, that she had a lovely little tutorial for some "sprocket cushions"
Well that was enough for me, I raided my stash and picked out these lovely fresh and fun fabrics.
I whipped these both up this morning.. and now they are sitting perfectly on my lounge.. yep I have had a little snuggle with them already *smile*.. Im really enjoying stitching on the lounge at the moment. With my belly getting bigger and bubba only around 5-6 weeks away its nice to have my feet up!

My newest Design..

I so love playing with pretty fabrics.. and this bundle was no exception.. Its "Bazaar Sytle" from Art Gallery Fabrics.. And it was so soft and luxurious to work with..
When I was stitching it together I was thinking about all things luxury and decadent, rich chocolate truffles, sticky toffee pudding, and pavlova with kind island cream... MMMM.... delish..
So I have decided that the name must be "decadence".. I am about to baste and then do LOTS of quilting on this one.. there is lots of space which I designed it that way so that I could play with all my new quilting skills..
This gorgeous little quilt has been commissioned for a mag which is super exciting..
I am also stitching a gorgeous block of the month "Toytime Circus" which Im really enjoying.. being nearly 30 weeks pregnant means that I love to stitch on the lounge.. smile.. I am almost half way through the quilt which is great.. love hand stitching :)

Lucky Im a mumma who can sew... :)

Well I have recently become quite addicted to stitching softies for my kidlets.. It still makes my heart sing when I give the little friend to one of my kidlets and that first cuddle is priceless!

My littlest one had taken a shine to Mr Frog, however he met with an untimely moment of terror, and one arm fell off... GASP!! But luckily Im a mumma who can sew.. and I frantically whipped this new little friend up today for him... and YEP he sure is a keeper..

I made this one using gorgeous left over minky cuddle cloth and some plain cotton fabric that I had left from some other projects.. I love how SOFT and SNUGGLY he is.. I also bought some safety toy eyes from a new supplier and I am really loving how they look compared to the stitched kind..

Phew.. now that catastophe is out of the way.. I can get back to some quilting tonight.. smile... but Oh how I love that Im a mumma who can sew... :)

"Willow"

Here is my latest offering in Australian Patchwork and Quilting.. "Willow". When I first spied this range of fabrics "Bliss" I knew I would have to make something yummy with them!

This is a beautiful throw size quilt that uses simple piecing and sashing filled with lots of yummy free motion quilting.. my FAVOURITE thing to do :) The fabric is so bright and fresh it will surely be a welcome addition to snuggle under in my loungeroom as the winter season approaches..

I am so thrilled to be featured in this fanstastic publication and I look forward to working with Marni and Elaine again in the near future.. it is truly such a blessing that I get to share my designs with the world..

"Pink Soda" party bag

Well I just finished this gorgeous little bag.. I made it because I needed a bag to put my microphone and lead in when I sing at church... and the plastic box thing it came with was no longer suffice.. *smile*

So I played around with a couple of measurements, picked out some gorgeous pink spot fabric and whallaa there it is! All done and looking SO PRETTY!!!

But this would also be the perfect bag to take to a wedding or party etc.. hence the name party bag.. giggle.. but "Pink Soda" well I just looked at this gorgeous spotty pink print and that was the first thing that came to mind.. Oh how I love to surround myself with all things pretty in fabric! It sure does make my heart sing!

Climbing Stairs Quilt

I was blog surfing a few weeks ago and I came across this lovely design by Allison Harris from Cluck Cluck Sew and I loved it!!
I sent her an email and she was so kind to send me a draft instruction sheet as her pattern is a few months away so that I could have a play with it now... *smile* such a lovely thing to do and I was so grateful!

I love how it turned out.. I used all the one range, where as Allison used lots of different scraps for her gorgeous quilt.. still I love it!
This range is called "baby" bu Michael Miller.. oh how I LOVE his ranges.. :)

Four Patch Frenzy

Well I have spent the last few days cutting, stitching, pinning and pressing.. using this gorgeous "Lizzy" fabric that I picked up from Blueberries the other day..

So pretty hey? Love the pretty vintage feel that these fabrics give. Its certainly not necessarily a colour pallette that I work with but I am loving the change of pace a bit.. *smile* this is a secret squirrel project for a mag which I cant wait to share.. but until then I will just leave you with a stack of four patch blocks..

Isnt she pretty... SQUEAL

Oh my goodness.. how lucky am I?? Look what came into work today when I was teaching..

I squealed with delight when Jody texted me last week to say that she had ordered one.. I had been druelling over this machine with all the online tutorials that are out there.. It makes FMQ (free motion quilting) a BREEZE!!!

Oh and here she is all set up and pretty looking!!!! (smile).. I am SO EXCITED to have a go on this machine..
Customers will be able to book timeslots in to quilt their own quilts in the near future.. but just for now its the staff's turn to give it a go (YAY)

Once I have used the machine I will upload some pics :)

Frippet Frog

How cute is this little Mister?? I have had such a fun time lately making all sorts of cute little cuddly softies for market and now I get to make some for my little munckins.. smile..

This pattern is from Bit of Whimsy Dolls.. they are super divine.. and so easy to make.. I have a bear and a tommy t rex just waiting to be cut up and sewn together for a special little munchkin.. :)

I have been so busy sewing , I have had lots of magazine projects to get done.. which is such a blessing.. I still have to pinch myeslf when I think of how lucky I am that I can play with pretty fabrics all the time..

I made the cover of "Australian Homespun" this month.. that is a HUGE honor.. Catherine is lovely to work with and I am looking forward to working with her again soon..

Fabric = DELISH!!

I dont know about you guys.. but there is something about new fabrics.. spotting them at your favourite store.. picking up the bolt.. running your hands over the crisp new fabric..instantly dreaming up a new design.. working out how much you need.. then its off to the counter.. smile...

Once I get new fabrics, I tend to leave them out somewhere I can see them for a few days before I actually chop into them.. so I get the full experence * LOL* My hubby just smiles and nods and goes "yes dear" when I go into the nitty gritty details of fabric choosing ..*smile*

Well I spied this lush new range in at Blueberries the other day went I went in to visit.. and instantly my mind ticked into design mode.. I didnt rush right in and just start spurting off amounts and then discovering that I may now have had enough.. I went home.. planned for 2 days.. ummed and ahhed over a couple of sketches I had drawn up.. then DECISION made and today was buying day.. *yay*
It is called the "Lizzie" collection by Anna Griffin.. and oh yeah did I mention.. DELISH!! And even better.. its just $20.00 per metre.. BARGAINZA!!!

To Market To Market

Well I have been stitching some little bits and bobs to take to market next weekend.. in between the designing and stitching of quilts for mags etc.. and of course all the other usual things that mumma's do :)

These are my cutie patootie "Butterbeans".. I made them after getting a pattern for Little Bit of Whimsy Dolls.. they are just TOO CUTE!!!

hope that they will find new homes soon.. if not I am SURE that they would be perfectly comfy living with my lovely little family.. *smile*..

Lollypop Tree

Well here is my latest creation.. this one is off to Handmade Magazine..

It is a sweet little wall hanging.. I have used lots of my favourite.. Raw Edge Applique around the tree and shapes and then stipple quilted around the rest of the design.. so love it!

I used "Dilly Dally" the newest range by Me and My Sister Designs.. I love the vibrance of their colour ranges..

Also thank you so much for the lovely comment on my previous post about what fabric I used for my donkey quilt in Handmade this month.. the fabric was called "senor burritto" and I got it from keilani fabrics.. Hope your able to get some too!

Handmade Craft Market

Well I hope that you all had a wonderful festive season.. I certainly did...

I love the start of a new year, everything is starting over.. lots of new possibilities.. I have been so blessed as to be a regular in two other Australian Magazines this year... which is so fantastic.. I have already sent off two projects so watch this space....

I am also starting to stitch some gorgeous little handmade baby things.. bibs, tummy time playmats to name a couple.. So my beautiful friend Kerrie and I are off to the Handmade Craft Market next month.. So excited...

Will be stitching up a storm in the mean time to make sure we have enough of things.. (Smile)

Merry Christmas....

Well as I sit here typing this post... there are still presents that need to be wrapped.. there is still food that needs to be prepared for the big day tomorrow..the house isnt quite as tidy as I would like.. smile.. but.. HEY thats fine by me!!!

I so love this time of year.. in all the craziness of the season... I am grateful for so much...

For the love of my family and friends
For the new miracle growing inside me
For the precious little boy, that grew to be the man who was our Saviour...

I would like to wish you and yours a VERY merry Christmas filled with love and Blessings....

I have been madly stitching projects as presents for family this year.. and I finished the last binding this afternoon (yep working close to deadline makes me produce great results..LOL)

These 2 little quilts are for my twin nephews... I am sure they will love snuggling up to them at preschool in the New Year... :)

Im a cover girl again...

This is what arrived in the mail today... smile... It makes my heart sing to see my designs in magazines and to be on the cover again is such a thrill!
My gorgeous table runner "Alice Blooms" is on the bottom left .. I named this runner after my beautiful nanna who passed away last year and my heart still aches for her... so I know she would be so proud of my acheivements and my cover...
The holiday season is fast approaching.. I do love this time of year.. im nearly organised... smile...

Christmas Baking

Well I managed to do some Christmas Baking today... Im hoping that the nausea will start to settle down now so I can get back to doing some cooking which I normally love to do..

Christmas is fast approaching.. the shops are out of control and I still havent finished my shopping yet.. sigh.. But today I did some baking for church tomorrow..

These are my "christmas pudding" cupcakes... I was inspired to bake by a dear friend of mine who moved away interstate and I miss her so much!
Anyway.. they look delish and I hope that they are a hit tomorrow!!

Thanksgiving Lunch....

Although we dont really celebrate thanksgiving here is Australia, a dear friend of mine Kerrie is married to an American. So for the past 5 years we have gotten together at her place for a beautiful thanksgiving lunch.. this year was no exception.. and even though I was really sick I was determined to go, enjoy and EAT.. you see Aaron makes THE BEST turkey stuffing that I have ever tasted.. *smile*

So this past weekend, my family along with around 15 others piled into her place for a wonderful day.. the food was amazing as always.. there was turkey, lamb, mashed potato, candied yams, beans and peas.. It was DELISH.. I did manage a small plate and although felt pretty seedy after it was SOOO worth it...

I also wanted to make her a little something special to adorn her thanksgiving table this year too...

She loved it.. and I really enjoyed making it. I havent been stitching much lately due to the fact that I have been really unwell.. I am hoping to get back into it as I wanted to make a few Chrissie gifts this year.. we'll see how we go!

It was time to do something different...

I made a skirt... and I LOVE IT!!!

I had bought this fabric a while ago.. and when I saw it I know that it would be perfect for a skirt.. so last night I headed into work and Jody and Ange helped me put it together.. those girls are AWESOME and Im so grateful for their help.. Ange is such a talented seamstress..
It was super easy and quick to put together.. I managed to do it in less than 3 hours and that was with ALOT of chatting in between.. *giggle*

The sunshine is out today and its perfect weather to wear my new skirt.. and marvel that I actually made something for me to wear!

Introducing,,, "Blossom"

Hi everyone... thank you so much for your lovely comments on my last post.. I am still grinning from ear to ear...

I have finished another design.. but am waiting on my border fabric to come in the post.. *sigh* I get a little impatient sometimes when Im wanting to get on and finish something.. thats ok.. its given me some time to get some other little projects done.. now without further ado.... here is... "Blossom"

Quite a few of my lovely Tuesday girls wanted to make a machine mat.. so I got the beautiful Jody to order some scrummy charm packs in.. and this is what I came up with... you only need 1 charm pack and 1m of plain fabric to make BOTH of these gorgeous little things.. and you could make another mat out of the remaining squares.. I love getting the most out of fabric bundles... LOL..

Pattern is written and sent off to the printers, so its on to the next project while I wait for border fabric... I am nearly finished a VERY special little set of cuddle blankets for 2 VERY special little angels... more pics soon....

Introducing "Bluebelle"

This is my latest cushion creation. I have to say that this was an absolute joy to make! Super quick but really pretty none the less..

Sorry for my lack of posts readers.. I have been flat out with stitch stitch stitching.. I even managed to stitch through my finger.. OUCH.... at least I managed not to bleed on the quilt I was working on so that was a HUGE bonus.. :)
Finger healing now thank goodness... hubby was home to save the day!!

Its spring time here and I love this season so much!! The sunshine comes out.. there is lots of time to play outside and enjoy.. and there is inspiration everywhere for stitching projects.. BLISS!

Well yep I have been a little slack havent i?? I am so sorry that it has been so long between posts. I have been busily stitching behind the scenes.. I have got a couple of things that Im working on..

This is a cutie pie little wall hanging that is already on its way to Handmade Magazine.

My dear friend Collette, has written a cookbook "Cut out the Crap" and its full of preservative free, gluten free and dairy free recipes.. click on her name to grab one for yourself.. at just $20 AUS its a total bargain..

Dont these look delish?? well let me tell you they were! I made these... these are "Cherry Bakewells" and they are on the cover of the book. I have been salivating over these since I got the book so I was so pleased to make them for our dinner party guests on Sunday night. They loved them too!

A little touch of Springtime...

Well the rain clouds went away today long enough to reveal a lovely sunshiney day (well for the 2nd half anyway) *smile*

It made me realise that spring is just around the corner and I love this time of year! I indulged today in some quiet stitching moments out in the sunshine, and I even managed to get my tootsies out of my ugg boots too which hasnt happened in what seems like months..

Arent these so cutie pie delish?? Well these are my pretty pentagon flowers that I have been working on this weekend... this beautiful fabric range is "flower sugar" by Lecien. I managed to pick up a fat quarter bundle from the lovely Kerri from Sew Deerly Loved.

There is something so relaxing for me about sitting in the sunshine and putting these lovely flowers togethor.. BLISS

A Special Gift for me....

It is so cold here at the moment, the wind is bitterly icy. It almosts goes right through you when it sweeps up! :(

So I was really happy when the parcel man arrived this morning and brought me a beautiful handmade crochet beanie from my beautiful friend Jas... I have been missing her alot lately.. so to receive something so yummy from her is just what my heart needed.. so THANK YOU JAS!!!

I love my beanie.. I havent taken it off since it arrived this morning.. YAY for toastie warmth! Isnt it funny how the simplest things make your heart sing!

I have been so crazy busy lately.. I am certainly not unhappy about it.. I love that I can create and immerse myself in all that I enjoy.. *smile*..

I have had 2 quilts accepted into new magazine publications that I hadnt yet been in which is a huge thrill and honor to say the least. And I have been commissioned to do an exclusive design for another also which is fantastic.

My teaching is coming along great too, Jody is brilliant and Im thrilled to bits that I get to work for her. The ladies on Tuesday's are amazing and I am so inspired after each class I usually come home and get stitching right away! My workshop in Sep is full, and Im going to be doing monthly workshops permanently which is also super super!!

I have had lots going on really, but the most exciting of news is that my dear friend Sue who was recently undergoing treatment for breast cancer has finished all her treatments and is going to be fine... she is such a beautiful person and that is such a blessing for her, her family and us too! YAY.. its time to celebrate now!

I am so excited... I opened my email box this morning to discover the lovely Jennifer from Monaluna Fabrics is going to be sending me a bundle of her lovely new line.. Monaco! I have been reading her Blog and I was thrilled when this line was released.. how wonderfully delish!!

I am so so so happy and excited... I cannot wait for the postman to bring me some of this yummy goodness.. I have already half sketched a design for this beautiful fabric. Thank you so much Jennifer.. you sure did make my day!

Alice Blooms....

Well here is a sneaky peek of my newest design, which has been snapped up by Handmade magazine... "Alice Blooms"

It has been nearly a whole year since I lost my beautiful nanna "Alice"- and when I was designing this project I really felt her around me. She was such an influencial person in my life and I miss her so much!

I am really enjoying all aspects of "free motion" quilting at the moment. And I spent the last week when I was stuck in bed cruising around the net looking for lots of tutorials, new inspiration and ideas etc.. YAY for laptops!!

Right now Im working on a couple of projects for an upcoming kids issue of a magazine... and Im feeling so GREAT now that I can stitch stitch stitch... *smile*

Introducing... "Love Blooms"

Well here it is... my finished sample for my upcoming workshop.. "Love Blooms"

I am so happy with it! Actually the whole process of drawing flowers. cutting fabric etc was so much fun.. I am eagerly awaiting my workshop now..

I have nearly filled the workshop which is so exciting for me.. I am so grateful to Jody for giving me a wonderful opportunity!

I am just about finished writing the pattern, I find it so much easier to write the pattern while the project is still fresh in your head.. LOL.. much less stressful really! I wont release this one as an individual pattern until after the workshop in September, so its fair to all the girls who are coming along for the day!

Well thats it from me, back to finishing off the pattern.. and I get to stitch some cutie little cuddle blankets for a very special friend who is having a special delivery.. *smile* will post some pics when they are done..

On other news.. it looks as though Sunshine and Stitching will not be having a road trip next month, the organisers have not been returning calls, emails so Im wondering if it is on at all.. a little disappointing but I have lots in the pipeline to keep me busy..

Cutie Pie Donkeys

Well I have finished quilting my donkey quilt, I stitched the binding on yesterday and hope to slip stitch it off this week, then write the pattern ready for the Stitches and Craft Show in Aug.. I fell in love with this cutie pie donkey fabric at the Sydney Quilt Show.. couldnt help but snap a pic of it to show you all....

The colours are so vibrant, very me really.. LOL.. I am so happy with the final result of this one.. I quilted it myself on my new sewing machine and oh my goodness I am so happy with it!!! My new machine ROCKS!!

After Im done with this.. a very special friend of mine who has a special delivery on the way will be the lucky owner.. I love that my quilts get to go to new homes!!!

Also I have nearly filled my first ever workshop.. there are a few places left if your keen.. Sat 18th Sep.. $50 includes a pattern and kit to make a gorgeous cushion top using raw edge applique.. one of my fav techniques at the moment.. I am so super excited.. would love to see some of my lovely sewing friends there..

Citrus Fresh....

Well I dont know about you.. but I am getting tired of this cold and yucky weather.. as I type I am looking out my back window and the outlook is pretty bleak.. However I have been stitching up a storm with my new machine.. oh how I love her! I have been playing with some beautiful fabrics that are available as a "swag".. what is a swag you say?? dont worry I had no idea until recently too..*smile*

A swag is 5 1 /2 inch strips of 20 various fabrics, some printed some plain- but they all work in together nicely! And these colours are simply... "Citrus Fresh" hence the title! LOL. So if you cut the strips into 2 1/2 inch strips you woud have a jelly roll.

Ok so how nice is this? this is such a quick and easy quilt to put togethor. I did the entire thing in 2 days. (Yes I did sleep too..LOL) This is from a new book "Two Quilts from One Jelly Roll". It is a small-ish quilt. But you could simply add a couple more rows of blocks and whallla.. it would be much bigger. The books are in stock now at All About Sewing- give Jody a ring on 4393 2200 and she could post one to you- or better still.. stop into the shop and pick one up!

This one is for display in the shop, I love that Jody has asked me to stitch up samples for display- Im having so much fun!!!

Well my donkey quilt is done too, I am in production mode gearing up for the Stitches and Craft Show in August.. not long to go now.

Chrissie Treats

Well its certainly wierd to be sewing christmas stuff in July. But this one is for a magazine so I guess that makes it ok..

I picked up this scrummy fabric from Blueberries. Its called 12 days of Christmas By Kate Spain. You may have liked her previous range "verna"- I sure did.. *smile* be sure to call the girls there in the shop and they can post some to you. 43 55 44 00

The colours are so rich and lovely.. very festive indeed.. the mag will be in stores 1st Dec 2010. Seems like a way off but Im sure it will be here as fast as ever! I am really enjoying being a regular contributor to Handmade- the editor Victoria is wonderful to work with. I was thrilled to get an email this week saying that they wanted to do an editorial on me.. isnt that funny?? So I answered all the questions and emailed them back to them. Cant wait to see the finished piece..

Such a happy day!

Oh my goodness.. the postie dropped off some yummy goodness today! *smile*...

I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of these babies.. this is Far Far and Away II- By Heather Ross. Its actually a sort of linen type feel fabric. Which I have never used before but cant wait to cut it up and make it into something pretty!

And arent these just delish? these are some fat quarters from Laurie Wisburn's Tuffted Tweets.. I am also in the sketching mode for these babies too.. the colours are so rich. The purple is such a deep strong colour and the turquoise is so refreshing. Togethor they all look amazing so I cant wait to use them too..

Well my gorgeous donkey quilt is coming along nicely.. I will share some sneaky peeks shortly.. and the postie delivered my highly anticipated half metre piece of the funky donkeys from Kelani Fabric. So Im pretty well all set for piecing the quilt top over the weekend..

YAY.. so that it.. my share with you all today! Also some other exciting news which I can finally share is.... I will be teaching at All About Sewing- Charmhaven!! I cant wait to meet all the lovely ladies who sew there. Thanks heaps to Jody for giving me such a great opportunity!!!

Ahhh.. the possibilites...

I love working with fabric. Its such a tactile medium and all the colours and designs always manage to grab me and my mind starts clicking through all the possible things I could use it for.

The piece I am working with at the moment was no different.. I spied it at the Sydney Quilt Show and I actually picked up the bolt.. nursed it in my arms for a while... put it back on the shelf and walked away..

Thankfully, I came back just in time to grab the last 70cm piece! -(phew)

I matched up some other moda solids to compliment the bright and happy colours from the donkeys.. I have already started piecing the blocks togethor.. and I realised that 70cm wasnt going to quite get me the number of blocks I had planned.. oh how much do I love online shopping? *smile* A couple of clicks and I am eagerly awaiting another 50cm piece from the lovely Kelani Fabrics.

Alas, there is no time to wait.. I need to piece this quilt togethor in record time.. Introducing... "Serendipity"...

Well I have just finished off my latest design.. "Serendipity".. its a beautiful wall quilt and I absolutely love it! I have used some of Saffron Craig's "forest elementals" range. It fits so perfectly with my design!
I even stipple quilted it myself too... it has turned out so great.. I am thrilled with the result..

Yes I was a mad woman running on Toowoon Bay Beach this morning trying to find the perfect spot for photographing... *smile*.. my dear hubby just smiles and nods when I was squealing with delight when the pics were done!

And this design is available as a pattern, its written and all done.. very excited!

Yep... Im still here...smile

Hi there!!! Yes I am still here.. just been really really busy of late.. we are gearing up for the Quilt and Craft show in Sydney this week.. I am sure that it wont disappoint either.. I cant wait to see all the new and fun stuff there!

I have been busily stitching... (gasp) can you believe it??? LOL.. I have been having lots of fun using pre cuts at the moment... here is a sneaky peeky of a quilt I just finished using "spirit" By Lila Tueller...

Its pretty isnt it?? well you cant really tell I suppose.. but I love it!!

What else.. well I have also finished 2 little cuddle blankets for an upcoming magazine issue too... yep did I mention that there has been LOTS happening in the "Sunshine and Stitching household"..

Now I better run... still want to get some more stitching done before the mammoth of a week arrives all too soon... but I wanted to thank you lovely blogger readers who read my ramblings.. and I think its time for a GIVEAWAY!!!

Hold the phone.,....... I have a new favourite fabric!

Yes.. its true... I have found a new favourite fabric.. up until now it had been "citrus splash" from the Meadowsweet Range... until now....

I spied this beautiful bolt of fabric at the shop this morning.. and of course had to take some home with me.. Im planning on making a lovely skirt out of this for summer...

Isnt it so yummy?? Its called " Petal Punch" by Hoffman Fabrics... Ahhhhhh.. simply... DELISH!

Weekend Fun...

Well Saturday was so fun!! Our guild day was awesome.. was so great to meet lots of other ladies.. and chat.. and eat yummy choc chip biccies... *smile*

I did manage to snap a couple of pics from the day.. My friend Kerrie made this divine quilt for her nanna.. which she loves!!

Our guild is only brand new.. and Im thrilled to say that I have been asked to be part of the board as...... Vice President!........ SO doing the happy dance! I am thrilled to be working with Leanne on this great project.. and I cant wait to see how our group grows and evolves over the years!

This is the lovely Jan and I.. was so nice to catch up with her.. ...

And Kerrie and I.. My sewing journey began when she introduced me to it.. so I am so thankful to her! *smile*

I even managed to get some sewing done yesterday... in fact I have only one row to go on a quilt I only started last week! Love working with pre cut's.. make the whole process really quick.. will share some pics from that one soon.. Im hoping to get it into another magazine as well.. fingers crossed...

Stitching Stitching.... and more Stitching

Well I am so pleased that after a whole month of working on the same project (with a couple of little ones thrown in too ) I have FINALLY finished my big project that I was working on for Australian Homespun magazine.. I am SO EXCITED!!! Cant share pics sorry... but it will feature in their Feb 11 "Fresh and Funky" issue...

I have also just finished up a little project that is going to be featured in "Handmade" magazine at the end of Sep this year.. I will give you a little tempter....

well it has been such gloomy weather here of late.. perfect weather for stitching.. *smile*.. Im looking forward to this weekend.. its our Modern Quilters Guild meeting.. I cant wait.. I am busily cutting out hexagons which I will be taking along with me to stitch... some more exciting news on the Guild will come a bit later.. but suffice to say that I AM SUPER EXCITED!!!

Anyway.. off to watch the end of the footy! (and stitch a binding on a little something..smile)

ITs fnally here...

The mailman bought me a wonderful delivery on Friday... the "Handmade christmas in July" issue.. which featured a project of mine! To see something of mine in print is such a thrill! I am so blessed to be able to share my creative journey with so many people now...

here it is.. sorry about the crappy picture its just that my scanner is playing up at the minute.. grrr.. but hey at least you get to see.. this is such a cool, easy table runner which I will be using to adorn my table this year for sure..

My friend Jas sent me the fat quarter that I used in the christmas tree and border.. and when it arrived i knew what i wanted to do with it.. so THANKS JAS...

Be sure to keep on checking back as I have a fair bit coming up in magazines this year and early next...

A cute little bundle of blue.

My mums friend at work is due to give birth to her little boy this week.. this couple have been on such a journey to conceive.. and they were blessed last year when they learned they were having a bubba... lots of prayers, tears and laughter followed them for the last 9 months... So I was super happy to volunteer to make her a "cuddlie" for him... and this is what I started with...

Just fell in love with these cutsie pie little birdies.. check them out....

And this is what it ended up looking like, I am so happy with this one... I mean I love all the "cuddlies" I make for little bubba's.. but this little boy has been soooooo wanted for such a long time.. it is my privaledge to make this for him to snuggle under...

Sneaky Peeks are FUN!!!

Well I couldnt resist a little sneaky peak for you guys... *smile*

I saw this fabric in the store a little while ago and held of the urge to just buy it.. till i had an idea for it... and yesterday the idea came! LOL.. Im designing a couple of cot quilts for a magazine coming up.. so i wanted to use this for the "girly" one.. and I got the boy stuff in from the US a little while ago.. so better get off this computer and get stitching!

well I spent the day at our local quilt show today.. it was a little quiet... but none the less I had LOTS of fun... *smile*
